This is the beginning of Ed's Home Page, created and maintained by Mark. Its contents will be, for now, The Vatcher Family Reunion booklet Ed put together. It is still a work in progress as I am scanning and converting his booklet from paper form to electronic. I am also trying to insert clinckable links for any references Ed makes in his writings to any related web page. So check for those links and come back soon for updates.
Edgar I. Vatcher is the oldest son of Edgar C.Vatcher, Captain
John Vatcherís youngest son and twelfth child. His mother was Mary Jane Crewe,
a daughter of Martin Crewe and Madelyn Scott Crewe of Deer Island. His parents
met and married in Providence, Rhode Island. He served in the U.S. Air Force
and came to Newfoundland for a two year tour of duty as a nineteen year old
sergeant in 1949, serving in Stephenville, St. Johnís and Argentia. During his
two years he made many friends and his experiences continue to bring him back
to visit friends and family who live from one end of the island to the other.
He is a retired Corning Glass Inc. plant manager and lives with his wife
Barbara Smith Vatcher in Little Compton, R.I., and Marco Island, Florida. He
has three sons: John, Stephen and Robert and his first grandson is named to
carry on the family heritage; John (Jack) Crewe Vatcher.
